When a family gathers to celebrate Passover dinner, a variety of conflicts
emerge--about the value of faith, conversion, the truth or falsity of religion, and
the nature of parental responsibility. "Why is this night different from all other
nights?" Because it is both a celebration of freedom, but also a recollection of the
cost of freedom, and of the shadow of death "passing over" us all. But of course,
this being a Jewish family, it is also a comedy.
