Comments: The name "BROWNIE, most probably came from the very popular illustrated poems and stories by Palmer Cox using figures called "Brownies."
Frank A. Brownell, cabinet maker, designed, built and assembled cameras solely for Eastman from the mid- 1880's to about 1902 and continued to design cameras on into the Teen's.
The advertisement to the right is one of the very few that had the Original Model illustrated, probably because more lead time was required for some of the magazines.
