Stereograph of V34408

The Navajo mother is dressed in the traditional gathered and ruffled skirt an velvet shirt. Her rug weaving is on a crude, but very efficient hanging loom. The loom is made of tree branches cut and shaved to proper size. Her wool yarn is probably made from the hair and wool of the family's herds. The complex designs esigns of her weaving mat take months or even a year to complete. The children stay with their mother to assist her as she weaves. The daughter will hand her mother the proper colored skein of yarn she has in front of her as it is needed.
