The
Fantastic Potlatch Dancers
A member of the Tlingit Nation of the Alaska Chilkat Tlingits, dressed in a Wolf clan ceremonial button blanket leads a group of Potlach dancers past a long house in the village of Klukwan. The man second from left and the last in line wear painted moose hide robes. The other dancers wear the famed Chilkat blankets woven in dog hair and mountain goat wool on a cedar bark warp or woof. The colors are hues of yellow, blue and black obtained from natural dyes.
