President Eisenhower and Edith Culp Hobby, his Secretary of Health Education and Welfare. The photograph was taken by Keystone View Company photographer Charles Lowe. He and and Eric Johnson of Erie, Pennsylvania, talked about the picture session at the White House that day and the restrictions placed upon him by then Press Secretary Jim Hagerty. Lowe was not permitted to take a picture of Mr. Eisenhower, alone, in the Oval Office. An internal memo about the session was circulated by Keystone to the staff and expressed regret the Company could not get a photo of the President alone as it did with many previous presidents. Eric's father, Harold T. Johnson (now deceased) helped UCR/CMP move the negatives, from Meadville, to Riverside.
