Of this population, approximately 33% are non or limited English speaking; 87% are receiving free or reduced lunch assistance.

The number one priority at Hoffer is to successfully teach reading using the whole language approach. The focus is on the student and what makes school a wonderful place for him/her to be. All staff is committed to excellence and takes pride in Hoffer School. Please come and join us.

During the 1993-94 school year, 100 percent of the Hoffer teachers completed and were certified in teaching literacy. This required a twelve week course, two hours each week. ELIC (Early Literacy Inservice Course) is our number one school focus.
