Dating is an adventure and an artificially constructed social situation. Each date is a type of reconnaissance mission: my outfits are disguises, my best behavior is a persona, and my questions are interrogations.

I am a spy in my own life. Armed with a secret pinhole video camera and miniature microphone, concealed in my coat, I record my dates. Since dating is a kind of detective assignment, using a surveillance camera is a fitting method of documentation.

My dates fall into three categories - those who agree to let me film them, those who want to date me because they will be filmed, and those who don't know they are being filmed - and who I have to later tell about the project and ask to sign a model release.
